OUGD603 / PPP3 - Networking: Contacting studios.

OUGD603.
NETWORKING.
CONTACTING STUDIOS.

- DESIGN SOMETHING MORE
- AHOY
- CONTRAST CREATIVE

Since contacting the last set of studios, I have come across some more that I am interested in and have similar design practices / end resolutions to myself.

Design something more:
Design something more came in originally to do a brief with us at the start of the year, and from the minute they presented to us I fell in love with their practice. Although I haven't seen much of their work as they are a fairly new studio, I really loved their whole train of thinking. A concept fuelled branding studio who loves to create design that is that little 'something more'. Something more also came back as part of the DBA panel and it was great to be able to work with them once again.

I sent them an email and some of my work, including some of the stuff I had done as part of my group in DBA to re-jog their memory. I was hoping that I would be able to pop down to Duke studios for a chat and a visit. At first I was worried as I hadn't heard back from them in a while but 6 weeks after I sent the email I got a reply. I was almost more impressed that they'd manage to email me back after 6 whole weeks than I would have been if they emailed back straight away.

They were really friendly in the emails as they were in real life. Unfortunately at the moment Something more are currently making their move from Duke studios at Munroe to the new site down by the Tetley and they are very busy moving back and fourth. However they told me to keep and touch, so that I would have a chance at going to visit them in a couple of months after they have finished the move. This will take me to just before the end of year show which works really well for me timing wise. I will also have a full portfolio by then on the off chance I get to present this to them as well.

New! Duke by the Tetley.

I have also contacted AHOY and Contrast creative, both design studios based in Manchester with a focus of print and some packaging work but I have not yet heard back from either studios. If I don't hear anything soon I would like to at least contact Contrast creative again as this studio has more work similar aesthetic and intent to mine.
