REPLIES FROM STUDIOS.
I have gained 3 replies so far out of the 9 design studios I have contacted for visits.
Since first emailing the design studios I think I have come to the realisation that Creatively so, is not an established design studio, but is in fact someone doing freelance work and so a visit there would be out of the question.
Below are the replies I have gained from 3 design studios.
Music:
When I contacted Ideas by Music I got a very quick response, where I was informed that I had been passed over to the intern department. Soon after I was contacted by Dan who helps to run this section of the company. Unfortunately he informed me that they are not currently open for any work placements. However they did say that they attend the LCA end of year show and so it will be great to be able to see and talk to them there. It was also great to get a little bit of positive feedback about my work as this helps to boost my confidence ahead of talking to other studios.
UNIT:
UNIT also contacted me in reply to my email. However Si whom was the creative director let me know that UNIT has been closed down and he has in fact relocated to Australia and opened a new studio now called SouthSouthWest.
SouthSouthWest:
It would be great it I was ever in the area or if SouthSouthWest was closer as I love the new studio just as much as the old, and they still produce some of the same great branding and marketing projects that made me fall in love with them in the first place.
STUDIO MIKMIK now The Archipelago:
I got a really positive reply from Studio MikMik who has now relocated and opened up studio The Archipelago down at Tower works. Straight away Mike invited me down for a visit, and asked me to bring some of my work down to discuss. I think this will be a really great opportunity to gain a little look at how a small fairly new studio runs. If it looks to be a good studio and somewhere where I could possibly do a placement if that is something they offer, and if I enjoy the visit. I will spend the next two weeks trying to finish up some current projects and building a strong portfolio to take with me.
